The title "The Wassail" refers to the banquet traditionally held at the end of the harvest season.
Mackintosh designed this beautiful piece of art together with his wife Margaret. Commissioned by businesswoman Cranston, whose "Glasgow tea rooms" acquired world fame through their progressive design and architecture.
