Love letters and love poems

Egyptians expressed their feeling of love for a certain person through hieroglyphics. These love poems were found on vases and rolls of papyrus which date back to around 1300 before Christ. Usually, the poems were about being in love and the confusing yet cheerful feelings that are involved in this. Greek mythology has a great deal of stories involving love. This is why it is not surprising that the Ancient Greeks had a God and Goddess of love: Eros and Aphrodite.

Those who think of Valentine’s Day, think of seducing that one special person with a sweet gesture such as a card, letter, getaway or charming present. A famous seductress is Cleopatra. Men were very attracted to her. Two of the most powerful men of her time (Julius Caesar and Mark Anthony) were among her conquests.
